What is De-regulated energy?
Deregulated energy has been around for over 50 years after a massive blackout in 1965 left 30 million people and businesses without power throughout the northeastern United States and Canada for an extended period. The event prompted the National Electric Reliability Council (NERC) to ensure it never happened again and energy deregulation was initiated. Today 29 states have opened their energy marketplace to alternative suppliers of electricity and/or gas. In Pennsylvania alone over one million residential and commercial users have successfully moved to deregulated energy providers.

Dick Fischer the principal of Fischer-Ridge is a career long advocate and facilitator of efficient and cost-effective operations. A graduate of the University of Richmond with a degree in Economics and an MBA from Seton Hall University, Fischer has focused on cost savings for commercial organizations around the world. Having over 45 years of commercial experience in companies such as Johnson and Johnson, The Amway Corporation and Playtex Products Fischer has been a leader in efficient procurement and efficient operations as well as a professor teaching business to undergraduates at several institutions. Fischer, as an industry consultant, continues to provide organizations with cost savings and cost control initiatives today.
Fischer is a Disabled Veteran and the former president of several non-profit organizations as well as past president of the Philadelphia Institute of Supply Management. Fischer is a Certified Professional in Supply Management CPSM.
